Past Couple of weeks

The past couple of weeks have flown by.  Can't believe how hard it is to keep my blog up!  Two weekend's ago my girls & I delivered 6 of the puppies to the Tilden/Newman Grove area.  All the puppy buyers seem very tickled with their new puppies.  Mom was gone on Saturday, but we spent the Day in Newman Grove anyway.  Erin was a great host & fixed supper for all of us after the kids spent the day playing in the park.  Danielle and her boys came over for the day as well.

Last weekend my girls were not feeling well.  Aubree had a touch of the stomach flu at the beginning of the weekend & Whitney ended up with a fever, cough & ear infection on Saturday.  We hardly left the place all weekend long.

My cousin Heather brought over my cousin's Trevor & Michael to play with the girls.  Trevor & Michael live in Omaha & were back staying with Heather for a few days.  My girls had a great time showing the boys around the ranch!

We have entered the busy season of AIing cows.  It is a very time consuming process, but one good thing that comes of it is a lot of time in the saddle for the girls!  This is Aubree's first year getting to really go out & help on horse back & she seems very happy to be able to be a part of it.

I am looking forward to a nice quiet weekend.  The next 2 weekends we will be on the go, so hopefully is weekend I can get things in order for the next two weekends!

Whitney was a little brave.  She kept going to the top of the stairs and wanted to slide down.

Aubree's Graduation

We were so blessed to have Aubree have the opportunity to attend the preschool at the Lutheran Church in Chambers.  It got off to a rocky start & at one point we were not sure if it was going to happen or not, but Miss Michelle stepped up and offered to have preschool two days a week & Aubree enjoyed every minute of it!  It really did a lot for her Faith as well as getting her ready for kindergarten.  I really hope they continue to have the preschool for years to come.

Reading Awards & PE fun day

Well here I am behind again!!  A week ago Monday Jenae had her reading award program & her PE fun day.  It was a HOT day.  I think it got into the mid 90's.  It is a fun day, that is a sign the school year is coming to an end.  The reading award program is in the morning & PE fun day is in the afternoon.  Marilyn's FCCLA kids do a burger bash for lunch.  It is a day the community really looks forward to!

Jenae getting her reading award.  She got the award for the highest average on her AR test & also with the most AR points in the class.  I am pretty proud of my little reader.

Whitney Faith was her busy little self at the program.

Aubree was excited to realize she would be competing in next year's PE funday!

Jenae did really good in the long jump.  Kyle has been working with her for a while on it & she had really good form.

Jenae's class & Aubree trying to cool off between events.

Jenae doing the jump rope.  I am thinking I should have done a better job pulling her hair back.

The last event is the Relay.  It was a long hot day & I think the kids were all happy when it was over!

Mother's Day

I had a nice Mother's Day.  The weather was so nice!  Upper 60's/lower 70's & not much wind.  We went to Church & since there is no place in Chambers to go out & eat anymore Kyle didn't take me out of a Mother's Day dinner, but he did settle for letting me fix frozen pizza!  I usually try to fix a nice Sunday dinner for when we get home from Church, but I wanted to get out & enjoy the nice day.
The girls rode their horses.  Kyle practiced his steer wrestling. The girls & I went out on the 4 wheeler Asparagus picking.  It was a very busy day, but I got a lot of quality time in with my girls, so to me it was the perfect way to spend Mother's day!

Me & the girls on Mother's day.  We were all dressed up from Church & Kyle snapped a picture of us.  My little sweethearts.  I love these little girls with all my heart.  They are true gifts from God!

It is time of picking Asparagus!  Mother's day & wild Asparagus picking usually go hand in hand.  It has been so cold this spring, I was beginning to wonder if the Asparagus would make it's annual appearance, but it did!  The girls have so much fun going Asparagus picking :-)

2013 Branding

We had a really busy 3 days.  Saturday we branded, Sunday was Mother's day & yesterday it was the reading awards/PE fun day at school.  I think 3 big days  deserve 3 blog posts!  Hopefully by the end of the week I will caught up on my blogging!

Saturday was a beautiful day for branding.  A  little cool in the morning, but nice for the cattle.  It was a successful day.  I kind of felt like the Pioneer Woman.  I went out early & took pictures of the cattle drive then I went home to make food to help Marilyn feed the crew!

All in all a great time was had by all!  I have a lot of pictures on the post as I do think a picture is worth 1000 words!

Whitney's first branding.  She was not sure what to think of it all!

Kyle helping Aubree get saddled up and ready to ride her her first branding cattle drive.

Aubree & Cinnamon ready to go!

Jenae and Comanche waiting for the word it was time to head 'em & move 'em out!
Keith & Becky come every year from Minnesota to help out with the branding.

Hope & Trey ready for the cattle drive.

Whitney with me in the pickup waiting for the crew to get the cattle rounded up.
I love how Aubree & Cinnamon are out in the middle of it all not really sure where to go.
The cows are bigger than they are.

Kyle went & helped Aubree & Cinnamon get on track!

Chip leading the cattle out on the road.

They finally got them out and got them headed home.

Aubree and Grace showed up in the same hat & both had pretty pink chaps.

Brooke Ehlers & Jenae had lots of fun riding around.

Time to move the cattle back to to the pasture.

Aubree decided on the way home that she would get rid of her saddle.  She said it was much easier to ride bareback!

Aubree did so good riding Cinnamon.  By the end of the day she had him going exactly where she wanted him to go.

I ended up walking most of the way to the pasture, just to be there in case Aubree needed some help getting Cinnamon going.  Bree jumped off to walk for a while & I hopped on Cinnamon.  It didn't stay on very long.  I felt bad riding the little guy!
