I just realized a week later that I have yet to post an update on Kyle's surgery. All in all Kyle is doing much better than I thought he would be doing at his point. He is taking very little meds for his pain & seems to be adjusting to life with his right arm in a sling. He does take his sling off from time to time to help from getting stiff, but he is doing really good at following the rules the surgeon gave him as far as not doing too much to soon. He is very limited what he can do for the next 5 weeks.
The day of the surgery was a really long day! His surgery was supposed to start at 12:30 pm& we had to be at the hospital at 11:00 am. He could not eat anything after 5:00 am so he got up at 4:30 to eat a bowl of cereal. He could not have anything to drink after 9:00 am. Of course they were running way behind & there did not start surgery until 3:15. The surgery took about 2 hours & he had a bit of a tough time coming out of his anesthetic. The nurse anesthetist said people that are big time partiers come out of the anesthetic better than those that do not drink or smoke. He said it was obvious by how long it took Kyle to come out of it he must stay clear of the partying while on the road! It was about 8:00 until we finally got home. The trip home was long for Kyle & I think he was wishing they would have kept him over night. He did not sleep much that night. I took Tuesday off to be home with him & then worked Wed-Friday. I was so happy with Friday evening rolled around! It had been 1 long week!!!
