Burwell/Deadwood/Cheyenne

You may be able to guess by the title of my blog that we had a very busy weekend!  3 rodeos in 3 days with 3 kids :-)  It was 2  weekends before this past weekend.  Kyle had been gone for the past week & 1/2 so I took Friday of Burwell off to meet up with Kyle when he got to Burwell.  He, Chip & Jenae were coming from Cheyenne where Kyle ran his 2nd steer on Friday morning.  His first steer was Thursday morning.

Kyle's cousin Melinda & her daughter Kassie were up for the weekend so I enjoyed getting to spend a little extra time with them & Sandy by taking Friday off as well.  We headed t Burwell around 4:00 in the afternoon.  Whitney was as happy as could be all day & enjoyed some time in the saddle.  By the time the rodeo was underway she was extremely fussy.  Nothing would make her happy.  Kyle roped & bull dogged in Burwell.  He missed his calf & did not draw very good in the steer wrestling.  No luck there!  Even though Whitney was really fussy, I did manage to enjoy visiting with friends & family that came to watch Kyle.  Since she was so fussy we left shortly after the rodeo was over.

Saturday morning we got up & going & made our way to Deadwood.  Kyle was making the short-go at Cheyenne with one set of guys to go.  Not sure if his 10th place was going to hold, we pack lightly so if he did make the short-go we could go from Deadwood to Cheyenne.
The good news for that day is that we found out only 1 guy in the last set of guys bumped Kyle, so he made the short-go, coming back 11th.  The not so good news is that Kyle drew yet another crummy steer in Deadwood.  Kyle's Uncle Robert came up to Deadwood to watch & had his bags packed to go to Cheyenne as well.   As soon as Kyle ran his steer we loaded up in the van  & headed toward Cheyenne.  We went as far as Torrington before stopping to sleep at a motel.  Whitney had been sleeping since we left Deadwood & was ready to have fun when we got to our room at midnight.  I let her play awhile to burn off some energy & I finally got her to sleep at 1:00.  At 2:00 the hallway in the motel fill up with some partiers.  I was getting really mad.  I called the front desk, but no one would answer.  I went out in the hall twice asking them to please be quiet.  Finally 20 minutes later they left.

It was a short night.  I think we were up and going by 6:30.  We got on the road by 8:00 to make sure we had plenty of time to get to Cheyenne for the knife presentation.  We met back up with Robert there.  He had stopped in Lusk to spend the night. Chip & Jim Wakefield met us there with Kyle's horses as well.  I had my hands full at the rodeo with the 3 girls, but we survived!!  I even managed to take them shopping to the booths around the grounds.    Kyle did not get a good draw again, but made the best of what he had & placed 6th in the round & 8th in the average.
Kyle & Whitney at the Burwell Rodeo. She was sure happy to see her Daddy!  He had been on the rodeo trail for a little over a week & we went to Burwell to meet up with him.

A happy Whitney on Comet with Jenae.

I did not totally trust Jenae to take Whitney for a ride, so I put her on with Chip.  She LOVES to ride!

Nick, Kyle & Jake are all sponsored by Duba Trailers & all 3 made the short-go at Cheyenne.

Sherry Cervi & Jenae.  Jim Wakefield went along with Chip to bring the horses to meet us in Cheyenne.  He saw Sherry there & knew Jenae was a big fan.  He asked Sherry to go talk to Jenae.  It totally made Jenae's day.  The next morning when we were home Jenae was up with the lap top on her lap.  I said "What are you doing Jenae?"  She said in a real matter of fact way "I am looking up to see how Sherry is doing in the standings!"  I think she is a fan for

My 3 little darlings!  Walking though crowds with these 3 I get a lot of looks from people.  I am not sure what they are thinking......Are they thinking "look at those 3 cuties" or "wow, that Mom has her hands full, she must be crazy to take 3 kids out  & about with all these people"  Maybe they are thinking something totally different.  All I know is I feel like people really look hard at my crew when we come walking though!  Maybe it is my lime green stroller they are looking at :-)

The following pictures were all taken by Jenae of Kyle's run in Cheyenne.
I think she did a good job :-)
